Investment policy development
Pavilion will help develop an investing plan that supports and documents the investment management process. The investment policy statement lays out, in a formalized manner, your personal criteria such as objectives, return goals and risk tolerances.
Investment strategy
Pavilion will work with you to develop a set of rules and rationale designed to guide the selection of securities and the maintenance of investment portfolios based on your risk-return objectives.
Charitable giving
Pavilion will counsel you on the impact of philanthropic efforts, particularly with regard to taxation and financial ability to give.
Tax planning
This involves the use of tax-advantaged accounts and strategies aimed at reducing the amount of tax payable. We coordinate with your tax professionals to ensure that the portfolio structure is delivered in a tax-efficient manner.
Financial planning
Together, we will work through a process that determines how you may best meet your financial goals through proper planning.
Insurance is a form of risk management primarily used to hedge against the risk of a contingent loss. A holistic financial planning process considers this in conjunction with your overall goals and objectives.
Estate planning
Estate planning is the process of anticipating and arranging for the distribution of an estate. Proper planning helps to eliminate uncertainties over the administration of probate and maximize the value of the estate by reducing taxes and other expenses. Areas include wills, trusts, beneficiary designation, powers of appointment, property ownership, gifts and powers of attorney.
Tax Preparation
Tax preparation involves the compilation and filing of income tax returns. Working through existing relationships with your accounting professionals, we will coordinate the completion of income tax filings.

Our family-office approach offers truly independent advice, private wealth management strategies and family planning solutions to enhance, preserve and transfer wealth from generation to generation.

Mr. Kessous is part of the Estate Practitioners (STEP), the pinnacle in the field of trust and estate planning. Its rigorous requirements for experience, education and ethics make STEP one of the world's most renowned designations. Mr. Kessous is also an executive and board member of several national and local charities.

As Principal of Pavilion Investment House, Montreal, Mr. Kessous delivers tailored wealth management solutions and acts as strategic advisor for tax, philanthropic and estate planning needs. Serving a select number of clients who expect, and deserve, an extremely high level of sophistication and dedication, he combines innovative strategies and judicious stewardship to meet their needs and exceed their expectations.

Steve Sebag, CIM — Private Wealth Counsellor

I believe in helping clients build a strong financial foundation upon which they can design their desired lifestyle, hopes and dreams confidently. Our approach to wealth management is deeply rooted in delivering exceptional service to our clients. We ensure they feel supported and understand what is happening at every step of the process.

Steve Sebag has been working with high net worth families for over 15 years. Through financial advice and dedication, Mr. Sebag positions himself as a sounding board for all wealth-related questions his clients may have. Prior to joining Pavilion in 2006 as a Private Wealth Counsellor, he held several positions at Assante Asset Management and TD Canada Trust. He holds a Finance degree from the John Molson School of Business and is a Chartered Investment Manager (CIM). His charitable commitments include various projects within the Federation Combined Jewish Appeal in Montreal including being the current President of the Young Adult Division (under 41). Mr. Sebag is founding chair of “FIX” — a community endeavor assisting individuals struggling with addiction, and he sits on the board of directors of Federation CJA and of the Azrieli Schools UTT/Herzliah.

Erle Shrier — Wealth Planning Consultant

After practicing tax for over 30 years, it has become evident to me that structuring a family’s affairs in a tax efficient manner can have a significant impact on its net worth in the short and long run. The tax laws both in Canada and the United States are very complex and ever changing. My commitment is to enhance Pavilion Investment House’s tax knowledge base, help keep the team current with regard to the changing tax landscape and advise the team/clients on estate planning matters After-tax wealth accumulation is what ultimately matters for taxable investors.

Mr. Shrier has over 30 years of tax experience; almost 20 of those years were spent as a tax partner with BDO Canada LLP practicing in its Montreal office. Mr. Shrier is a C.A., C.P.A. and M.B.A graduate. His principle areas of practice included providing Canadian, U.S. and cross-border Canada-U.S. tax advice to high net worth taxpayers and entrepreneurs. The tax advice included optimizing clients’ after-tax returns when doing business domestically and internationally, minimizing the tax bite related to earning investment income during one’s lifetime and structuring a client’s affairs to minimize tax at death, again both from a Canadian and cross-border tax perspective.

Although Mr. Shrier has recently retired as a partner with BDO, he still maintains his professional memberships with the Ordre des Comptables Professionnels Agrées du Quebec and the Canadian Tax Foundation. Mr. Shrier acts a tax consultant through an accounting firm independent from Pavilion Investment House.

Jessica Loh — Private Wealth Associate

In her role as Private Wealth Assistant, Jessica Loh is responsible for assisting financial advisors in the management of client portfolios and the completion of tax-related reports. She also is responsible for managing the office and responding to client requests. Prior to joining the team in 2006, Ms. Loh worked closely with PCMs and advisors as Client Service Associate in the private wealth division for Assante Wealth Management. She also worked at BMO as a Customer Service Representative and at Tokyo Mitsubishi International as Custody & Settlement Officer.

Ms. Loh holds a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences in Japanese Studies and Geography from the National University of Singapore and has completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC®). Ms. Loh speaks French, English and Mandarin and possesses basic knowledge of Japanese.

Lawrence Greenberg — Private Wealth Associate

In his role as Private Wealth Associate, Mr. Greenberg assists the team in delivering Pavilion Investment House services to our valued families. In addition, he contributes to the practice’s business development and marketing initiatives. He is motivated by helping families achieve their definition of financial success.

Prior to joining the team, Mr. Greenberg worked at Scotiabank. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce, major in Finance, from the John Molson School of Business.
