The Pavilion Story
Pavilion has a rich legacy in the financial services business. Through our various entities, the company’s roots date back to the late 1960s.
The Pavilion name and logo
As the name suggests, Pavilion is a gathering place for the best minds and the brightest ideas. Our company’s founders envisioned assembling under one roof the talent and tools, the services and solutions, the expertise and experience to become a valuable resource for some of the world’s most discerning institutional investors.
Our corporate logo’s strong geometry and sharp angles imply forward thinking and decisive action, and the generous letter spacing in Pavilion denotes reasonable, calm and rational thinking.
In all, the name and logo capture our strategy to be one of North America’s leading institutional investment consulting firms.
How Pavilion was built
Pavilion Financial Corporation was founded in 2006, and has since established itself as a significant player in the North American institutional advisory industry. The company has grown through:
- Recruitment of seasoned consultants and researchers.
- Acquisition of well-regarded investment advisory firms, bringing clients the benefits of an expanded range of services along with the advantages of scale, particularly in the areas of research and technology.
- Reinvestment of cash flows into new services, research and infrastructure to support clients and their objectives.
Pavilion made its foray into the institutional investment advisory industry with the acquisition of Montreal-based Brockhouse Cooper. With origins that go back to 1968, Brockhouse Cooper was a highly-regarded firm providing investment advisory services, global securities trading and other services to many of the leading institutional investors in Canada.
The acquisition of Chicago-based Stratford Advisory Group in late 2011 provided Pavilion with an established, full-service institutional advisory business in the United States. Formed in 1982 and a recognized leader in its field, Stratford’s business complemented Brockhouse Cooper’s advisory services division.
In September 2012, the fully integrated Pavilion organization and brand was launched.
In 2014, Pavilion announced the acquisition of the business of Plan Sponsor Advisors, LLC, an investment and retirement benefit consultancy. Plan Sponsor Advisors was founded in 2002 and had offices in Chicago and Indianapolis.
In 2014, Pavilion Financial Corporation announced the acquisition of LP Capital Advisors, a Sacramento-based investment consulting firm with expertise in advisory services in alternative asset classes, particularly private equity. LP Capital Advisors was founded in 2004 and also has offices in Boston and Salt Lake City.
In 2016, PFC announced the acquisition of Altius Holdings Ltd., the parent company of Altius Associates Ltd. and Altius Associates (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (Altius Associates), a global private markets advisory and separate account management firm with offices in the UK, U.S. and Singapore.
In 2016, Pavilion combined the operations of Altius Associates with LP Capital Advisors to create a larger global alternatives asset class advisory platform with expanded depth and breadth of services and geographic footprint. The combined organization was rebranded as Pavilion Alternatives Group.
In 2016, Pavilion announced the purchase of the business of Jeffrey Slocum & Associates, Inc. (Slocum), a full service investment consulting, advisory and retirement benefit firm headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota and founded in 1986. The Slocum team joined forces with Pavilion Advisory Group Inc. and operates under that name.
Inspired by our history and a vision of being a pre-eminent force in our industry, we are excited about the future. We will continue to build on the strength of our people and business model, the value of our legacy companies and our ability to create highly customized and specialized solutions that best meet clients’ investment objectives.
